I am a technologist by trade and I have learned to leverage as many possible free tools to build or prototype great user experiences. This site was designed to allow users a community to give away their old books and for others to use recycled books and keep them for as long as they choose. It's a trust based good faith website. As the creator, I personally pay for the GoDaddy Domain and site, but built the inventory engine for free on GitHub pages (which is why it looks a little different than the landing page).
Participant's identities are protected because all that is supplied is an email, photo of the book and name of the book in the inventory. If givers or receiver want extended privacy, they can setup a separate free gmail or yahoo account just for posting or receiving any used books from this site. The only information that is personal would be mailing addresses which are be provided only to each other at time of agreement to ship the book. None of this information is captured or stored by MyBookShare.com.
